School Buses Damaged in Ards Attack

A number of school buses have been damaged after they were broken into in Newtownards, Co Down.

Police received report of the incident at Castle Gardens Primary School on the Bowtown Road on Monday at 2.35pm.

Four buses had been broken into and radios were stolen from them.

The vehicles received substantial damage during the break-in.

Ulster Unionist leader Mike Nesbitt appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

“I utterly deplore this incident of mindless vandalism,” the Strangford MLA said.

“What enjoyment could anyone get out of such behaviour? Why should scarce resources be wasted on having to clear up this mess rather than be spent on classrooms and materials?

“I fully endorse the call made by the police for anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious, or who has any information that can help them catch those responsible, to please come forward immediately.”
